April & May Supper Clubs & Events

SBhost

I’ve been enjoying my freelance chef life and the opportunity not to work myself into poor health! We can all appreciate that. I’ve been busy with supper clubs of course, but also private parties. I’m booked for birthdays, business meetings, family dinners, and hen dos! Feel free to get in contact about catering your next event.

I’m doing a few new supper clubs nights, but very excited about London’s first Vegan Wine Event! It’s an educational evening trying many boutique wines with lots of food to match. I hope you can make it!

January Vegan Supper Clubs

Happy New Year!DSCN0505

I hope 2016 brings you lots of joy and lots of good food! I recently resigned from my head chef position to focus primarily on supper clubs and cooking classes. I hope you can experience these yourselves this year!

Here are all the events happening in January, with special meals and prices. There will be no supper clubs in February, as I will be in Asia doing more culinary training.

Gluten-Free Vegan Japanese Dinner
£24

The most popular multi-course night made gluten-free. Expect some new dishes like kabocha korroke curry rice and some from the Japanese cookbook I’m working on.

Sun 10 Jan: Book here.

Macaroni Monday
£11

Start the week out right with a bowl of comforting creamy macaroni. Why not top it with a selection of toppings like homemade kimchi or spicy broccoli? A relaxed evening with good company.

Mon 11 Jan: Book here
Mon 25 Jan: Book here (Burn’s Night Special)

Bibimbap & Board Games
£15

A supper club tester that is booking up quickly! Enjoy bibimbap, a Korean rice dish with oodles of toppings (along with nibbles and dessert), while our Games Master teaches you some amazing new board games. We are lucky to be living in the “Golden Age of board games”, where you are involved at every moment and friendships aren’t compromised.

Wed 13 Jan: Book here
Wed 20 Jan: Book here
Sun 31 Jan: Book here

Vegan 4-course Japanese Dinner

I use Social Belly, a London-based start up, for bookings. They are focused on making new friends over the food. How great is that? You can also find some listings on EatWith.

Moon Cake Class!

Moon-cake-Chinese-Mid-Autumn-Festival-128

The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as Moon Cake Day. It is on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar. It is celebrated by people in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam and the Phillipines to name a few, with other moon-viewing and autumn festivals in Japan and Korea. The Mid-Autumn Festival and moon worship started way back in the 1700s BCE after the harvest had finished in Autumn. But enough of that!

And what timing, as the Moon Cake Making Class is Saturday, 13 September!

In the Moon Cake Class, we will learn about the history of Moon Cakes while having a cocktail, enjoy tasting different types of teas, and, oh yeah- make fresh moon cakes! We will make the dough and some fillings like lotus root, red bean, and chestnut. You will choose your designs, press out and bake the cakes yourselves. You will be able to take your moon cakes home to enjoy under the moon.

While they are baking, we will have a tasting of different loose leaf East Asian teas!
We will then admire, take photos of, and eventually eat the moon cakes with tea (or BYOB) and box up any you would like to take home to enjoy (and maybe even share).

So what’s on the menu this time? Why, it’s a 5 course meal!
As always, I try to make true Japanese dishes that you cannot find in restaurants. I will also be making some dishes from my upcoming Japanese cookbook.
